Easy DIY Snowman Christmas Ornament

Easy DIY Snowman Christmas Ornament

Isn’t this time of year magical, with all the beautiful lights, amazing smells, baked goods, and love going all around? I make it a point to purposefully slow down this time of year to make sure my family has a dreamy season. Whether it is collecting pine cones with the kids on a “nature walk” to make Christmas-scented pine cones or baking Santa sugar cookies and breads with them. I love making memories with them over the holidays, they are truly core memories for me.

This year we are making a bunch of homemade Christmas ornaments. I’m sure my husband prefers the years I focus on the holiday baked goods since our dining room table is currently overwhelmed with all things crafting and about a hundred pounds of glitter however; the kids and I are having so much fun! We made these super cute wood snowmen that I plan on placing on some gifts as well for neighbors. They were very easy to make and did not take much time. I hope you enjoy these easy DIY snowman Christmas Ornaments, if you make them, please post a picture in the comments, I love to see everyone’s variations!

Supplies Needed to Make Easy Snowman Christmas Ornaments

  • White Acrylic paint
  • Black Acrylic paint
  • Orange Acrylic paint
  • Brown Acrylic paint
  •  Round Wood Ornaments
  • White Glitter
  • Ribbon
  • Hot glue gun
  • Twine or String for hanging
  • Mariah Carey Christmas music playing in the background (optional, but highly suggested)

How to Assemble the Easy DIY Snowman Christmas Ornaments

  1. Paint one side of the wood ornament with your white acrylic paint. While the paint is wet sprinkle on your white glitter. Now, set aside your wood ornament to dry.

2. Once your wood ornaments are dry you will glue the two pieces together. I had small popsicle sticks at home so this is what I used. Apply hot glue to the stick and attach the two halves of the snowman. Next, let the glue dry completely before moving on.

3. Time to paint your snowman’s features! Use a small amount of black paint and make circles for the eyes, the mouth, and the buttons down his belly. Use your orange paint to make the nose. After, the back paint is all the way dry you can add little drops of white to the eyes to give them some dimension. Next, get some brown paint and make the snowman’s stick arms. Let the paint dry completely before moving on.

Already so cute!

4. Now you will plug in your hot glue gun and pick some ribbon for your snowman’s scarf. The kids thought this step was fun, they were “dressing up” their snowmen! The length I used was 3-4 inches for the scarf. Wrap it around your snowman’s neck and hot glue it in place; you can trim it to the length that you like.

5. Once everything is dry, you will get your twine, string, or ribbon to hang your snowman.

6.That’s it! Super cute easy DIY snowman Christmas ornament.
