Gather Your Supplies

First things first, gather all of the supplies needed to clean your bathroom. You will want to streamline your cleaning process and having everything ready is the first step. I recommend having a bathroom cleaning cadi that you can grab and go with.

Supplies Needed

  • Multipurpose Cleaner
  • Glass Cleaner
  • Vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Toilet Bowl Cleaner
  • Cleaning Gloves
  • Broom
  • Mop
  • Microfiber Cloths
  • Paper Towels

Once you have all your supplies ready, turn on some upbeat tunes and get to work!

We will discuss cleaning your bath and shower first.

Start With The Bathtub and Shower

To clean your bathtub and shower begin by removing any hair in the drain and taking ALL products out so you can really get in there and clean. Next spray the entire bath/shower with a multipurpose cleaner or a bath-specific cleaner.  Make sure you read the directions and let the cleaner sit for the correct amount of time or it will not properly disinfect. Once the time is up, get a sponge or electric spin scrubber and go over all surfaces in the bathtub and shower. I LOVE my electric spin scrubber, it does all the hard work for you AND gets everything super clean. After you have scrubbed away all the soap scum, mold, and mildew rinse off all the surfaces.

If you have a glass shower, spay glass cleaner and wipe away with a microfiber cloth

Cleaning Hack: Mix equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle and use it as glass cleaner. This combo is eco-friendly, cost-effective, and will make any glass or mirror cleaner than any commercial glass cleaner. Check out Natural Cleaning Hacks Using Vinegar   for more cleaning hacks using vinegar.

To clean your shower head, pour equal parts vinegar and water into a gallon-size bag. Use a rubber band and secure the bag around the shower head so the shower head is submerged. Let this soak overnight. This will remove hard water build-up and help disinfect the shower head.

If you have a shower liner, spray it down with equal parts vinegar and water, let it sit for a few minutes then rinse with hot water. Most shower curtains can be washed in the laundry machine, make sure to check the cleaning instructions first.

Next, grab a dry microfiber cloth and rub over the metal pieces, such as handles in the shower. This will remove any watermarks and make the metal shine like new! Now replace any shower products.

Shower cleaning tips: Keep a squeegee and everyday shower cleaner spray in the shower to use after every use. When you finish in the shower quickly spray it all down, this will keep bacteria at bay. Use the squeegee on the shower glass to help minimize water marks.

Tackle the Toilet

To begin, put toilet bowl cleaner inside the toilet bowl, do this first so it can sit and do the hard work while you clean the rest of the toilet. Next, spray the entire toilet with either a multi-surface cleaner or a bleach-based cleaner. The toilet is one area that can benefit from these germ-killing cleaners. Make sure you are wearing cleaning gloves to protect your skin. Again, let the cleaner sit for the time the product specifies.

When you are ready to scrub grab some paper towels and start wiping the toilet down from top to bottom. Don’t forget to clean the toilet handle (everyone touches this)! When you get to the seat, remove it to get into all the small areas. Place the seat back on once you have wiped this area. Continue working down to the base of the toilet.

Finally, grab a hard-bristled toilet brush and scrub the inside of the toilet while the cleaner is still in it. Flush the toilet and rinse the toilet brush.

Cleaning Hack: Poor a cleaner such as Fabuloso, or Pine-Sol into the toilet brush holder before you put the brush back in.

PRO TIP: Put a few drops of essential oil inside the toilet paper roll for a fresh scent.

Don’t Forget the Sink and Countertop

First, you will want to remove everything off of the countertop and place all items in their designated spots, for example, place curling irons in the drawer where they belong and so on. Next, spray down the countertop and any sinks with a disinfectant cleaner. Again, let the cleaner sit for the specified time for maximum germ-killing. Use an electric spin scrubber if you have one to clean the sinks, if not you can use your microfiber cloths. Wipe the counters down with a microfiber cloth. Use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe down faucets to make them shine and remove water spots.

According to REAL SIMPLE , bathroom sink drains are the dirtiest place in the whole bathroom, even more so than the toilet! To clean the sink drain, poor baking soda, and vinegar in the drain, let sit for about 10 minutes then pour HOT water down the drain.

Cleaning Tip: Keep disposable antibacterial wipes in each bathroom, nightly use one wipe on each bathroom sink handle, this will greatly decrease bacteria and hopefully keep your family healthier.

PRO TIP: If you have grime around the sink faucets or hard-to-reach areas, you can use a Q-tip to easily remove gunk in these spots.

Once you have finished cleaning the sink and countertops, consider organizing anything you typically leave on the countertop for a cleaner, neat appearance. Make use of storage that is underneath the sink.

Clean the Floors

Bathroom floors can be a huge germ magnet and tend to get downright filthy. To begin, give the floor a good sweep, and make sure you get areas near vents and around the sink where hair can accumulate. Next, mop with a cleaner. This is a great time to use a spin mop. Add a cleaner such as Fabuloso,  and HOT water. Spin as much of the water out as you can before putting the mop on the floor. Get all areas, especially near the toilet.

You can also use a steam mop to sanitize the floor. This is a great choice, especially for around the toilet.

PRO TIP: Use an old toothbrush or small brush to get hard-to-reach areas.

PRO TIP: After you take out your bathroom trash, get a cotton ball and put essential oil on it. Toss it in the bottom of the trash can before you put a trash liner in. This will leave a nice scent! I recommend lemon or lavender, but you can choose whatever scent you would like!

Use a steam mop to sanitize the floors
