Natural Cleaning Hacks Using Vinegar

Natural ways to clean your home using vinegar. Cleaning hacks

Natural cleaning hacks using vinegar. There are so many! Let me tell you how I stumbled upon the greatness of vinegar. When I was pregnant earlier this year I made a deep dive into the world of natural/homemade cleaning products. There is nothing that I love more than a clean home, it feels better, smells better, it’s just better. While I grew rounder, by what felt like the minute, I watched cleaning videos on TikTok. Lame I know, but I truly could not stop. It was like extreme nesting meets hippie cleaning, every day there was a new cleaning hack that I had to try right then or I might combust. The good news, is I had a super clean house with only using natural products, less waste, and less chemical exposure to my baby, the bad news, is I’m pretty sure I went a little mental. Anywho, that is for another day, today I want to tell you about all the things I learned you can clean using Vinegar. I buy this stuff by the gallon now and ALWAYS have it on hand. It is seriously crazy the power this stinky stuff has. Read on for natural cleaning hacks using vinegar.

Microwave Cleaning Hack

Doesn’t it seem like microwaves are just dirty at all times? I swear I clean mine and 3 seconds later my husband decides to heat up spaghetti uncovered. So my choice was to figure out an easier way to clean my microwave or get rid of my husband. I chose to find a way to clean the microwave. First, you will want to wipe out any chunks or crumbs that are loose in there. Next, fill a bowl with a cup of vinegar and place it in the microwave. Microwave it for about 5 or so minutes. Once it goes off, it’s time to wipe away the crud. Be careful, your vinegar bowl will be very hot. Get a rag and simply wipe everything away. The vinegar created a steambath in there while it was cooking which makes all the residue super soft and easy to wipe away. No more scraping and scraping at the cooked on food in there, this works so much better! Once the bowl has cooled down I typically just dump the remaining vinegar in the sink but, I’m sure you can use it for our other projects as well!

Homemade Glass Cleaner

I feel like I have tried so many commercial glass cleaners, some work beautifully but they don’t seem to last that long. I don’t know about you but having to get another glass cleaner every week is a little ridiculous. In comes vinegar. For this, you will get an empty spray bottle add a cup of vinegar, and fill the rest with water. There you have it. Your new, super cheap glass cleaner that works BETTER than the commercial glass cleaner. Spray your mirrors and windows as you normally would and then wipe down with a microfiber cloth. That’s it. Mind blown.

Homemade Shower Cleaner Using Vinegar

There are a TON of products on the market for shower cleaning, how the heck are you supposed to know what to use, and why are some of them so strong they burn your eyes?! I don’t want that in my home or near my kids. For this hack, you will also need an empty spray bottle. Side note,  make sure you always label your bottles so you know what you are working with. To make a shower cleaning spray mix one cup of vinegar with one cup of Dawn Dish Soap in your spray bottle. Next, you will heavily spray down your shower. I let this sit for a minute to help loosen any soap residue. After that, rinse with water and wipe off with either a microfiber cloth or a squeegee. There you have it, a super clean shower without all those crazy chemicals.  For more on Shower cleaning hacks read, Shower Cleaning Tips and Tricks

All Natural Fabric Softner

Okay, this one blew my mind a bit. You can replace liquid fabric softener with vinegar in your wash cycle to make your clothes fluffy and soft. Guess what? It works like a dream and your clothes don’t come out smelling like vinegar. I especially love to use vinegar when I wash my towels, I can tell a difference in the softness of my towels, it seems to give them a little more life. Who doesn’t like fluffy, soft towels?! Another plus is, that liquid fabric softener can cause a build-up of residue in your washing machine, this eliminates that problem!

Natural Ways to Keep Spiders Away and Clean Up Their Webs

Did you know that spiders don’t like the smell or taste of vinegar? THIS was an awesome surprise to me. If you spray a mixture of vinegar and water around your home where spiders are likely to call home they are likely to move on out. Spiders eat with their hands, they are not a fan of the vinegar taste so they move on. Read, Removing Spiders Using Home Remedies for more on keeping spiders away.
